Porterville, Tulare County
Porterville sits where the Tule River leaves the Sierra Nevada foothills. The headquarters of Sequoia National Forest is in town, and Highway 190 leads east past Lake Success into the Giant Sequoia National Monument, where groves of the big trees grow along the upper river. The Tule River Indian Reservation lies in the hills to the southeast.
